Terms of Service

Last updated: 10 September 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Stipple AI Pty Ltd ("Stipple", "we", "us"), an Australian company, covering your use of the document-verification service at www.stipple.sh — the website, the API, and the MCP servers. By using the service, creating an API key, or preparing a tender, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and is part of this agreement.

1. What the service is — and is not

Stipple runs evidence-backed checks on documents and text: forensic document-authenticity analysis, AI-text detection, citation fact-checking, and related tools. Every result reports coverage, not a verdict: it describes the evidence found and the checks that ran, as a signal for a human decision.

  • Results are not proof that a document is genuine or forged, that text is or is not AI-written, or that a claim is true or false.
  • The service is not legal, financial, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for your own judgment or your own compliance obligations.
  • You must not treat a result as an automated decision about a person. A human must make any decision that affects someone.

2. Accounts and API keys

  • Website checks use a free account (sign-in); the API and MCP work with a free key or anonymously. Both are free; keys require a working email address.
  • You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret and for all use made with them. If a key is compromised, contact us and stop using it.
  • We may suspend or revoke keys and accounts used in breach of these terms (see section 8).

3. Purchases

  • Finding and matching tenders, browsing results, and every document checker are free. The one paid product is preparing a tender: a one-off, per-tender purchase in Australian dollars. The current price is published at /pricing and via the API (GET /v1/pricing).
  • A prepared bid never expires: once you have paid for a tender, its requirement list, gap list, drafts, rewrites and export stay available for that tender indefinitely.
  • Purchases are not transferable between accounts and are not redeemable for cash, except where a refund applies (section 4) or the law requires it.
  • We may change the price from time to time. Changes are published at /pricing and apply to future purchases only.

4. Payments and refunds

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
  • An unused purchase — one where preparation has not started — is refundable on request within 30 days of purchase; contact us with the email used at checkout and we will refund it to your original payment method.
  • A purchase is not refundable once preparation has started, whatever the result says.
  • If we permanently discontinue the service, we will refund every unused purchase.
  • Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that applies to you (see section 7).

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • submit a document or text you have no right to process — you are responsible for having the necessary rights and consents for whatever you submit;
  • use the service for any unlawful purpose, including harassment or surveillance of individuals;
  • attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, or payment — including by rotating identities or automating key creation;
  • probe, disrupt, or overload the service, or attempt to access another caller's data or results;
  • resell the service as your own without our written agreement.

6. Your content

You keep all rights to the documents and text you submit. You give us the limited permission needed to process them to provide the service and, as described in the Privacy Policy, to improve detection quality during the retention window. Shareable result links (such as fact-check permalinks) contain the verification result, never your original document.

7. Consumer guarantees, disclaimers, and liability

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies those guarantees or any other right the law does not allow us to limit.

Subject to that: the service is provided "as is"; we do not guarantee that any check is complete or error-free (detection accuracy is published with methods and misses, and no detector is proof); and to the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to, at our option, re-supplying the service in question or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for decisions you or anyone else makes in reliance on a result.

8. Suspension and termination

  • We may suspend or terminate access, keys, or accounts that breach these terms or create risk for the service or others. A purchase on an account terminated for breach is forfeited to the extent the law allows.
  • You can stop using the service at any time; an unused purchase remains refundable under section 4.

9. Changes to the service and these terms

We may change or discontinue features. We may update these terms; the "Last updated" date above will change, and material changes will be made clear on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. Changes do not take away access to a tender you have already paid for.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Australian courts.
