Terms of Service

Stipple runs evidence-backed checks on documents and text: forensic document-authenticity analysis, AI-text detection, citation fact-checking, and related tools. Every result reports coverage, not a verdict: it describes the evidence found and the checks that ran, as a signal for a human decision.

• Results are not proof that a document is genuine or forged, that text is or is not AI-written, or that a claim is true or false.
• The service is not legal, financial, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for your own judgment or your own compliance obligations.
• You must not treat a result as an automated decision about a person. A human must make any decision that affects someone.

• Website checks use a free account (sign-in); the API and MCP work with a free key or anonymously. Both are free; keys require a working email address.
• You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret and for all use made with them. If a key is compromised, contact us and stop using it.
• We may suspend or revoke keys and accounts used in breach of these terms (see section 8).

• Each activity costs a fixed number of credits. The current per-activity costs, the free weekly allowance, and pack prices are published at /pricing and via the API (GET /v1/pricing).
• Free credits are granted weekly, reset at 00:00 UTC on Monday, and do not accumulate or carry over.
• Purchased credits are bought as one-off packs, attach to the API key used at checkout, and do not expire. They are consumed only after the week's free credits are used.
• Purchased credits are not transferable between keys and are not redeemable for cash, except where a refund applies (section 4) or the law requires it.
• We may change credit prices and per-activity costs from time to time. Changes are published at /pricing and apply to future use — credits you have already purchased stay valid.

• Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
• Unused purchased credits are refundable on request within 30 days of purchase — contact us with the email or key used at checkout and we will refund the unused portion to your original payment method.
• Spent credits are not refundable: a credit is spent when the service performs the activity you requested, whatever the result of that activity says.
• If we permanently discontinue the service, we will refund the unused purchased credits on every key.
• Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that applies to you (see section 7).

You agree not to:

• submit a document or text you have no right to process — you are responsible for having the necessary rights and consents for whatever you submit;
• use the service for any unlawful purpose, including harassment or surveillance of individuals;
• attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, or credit charging — including by rotating identities or automating key creation;
• probe, disrupt, or overload the service, or attempt to access another caller's data or results;
• resell the service as your own without our written agreement.

You keep all rights to the documents and text you submit. You give us the limited permission needed to process them to provide the service and, as described in the Privacy Policy, to improve detection quality during the retention window. Shareable result links (such as fact-check permalinks) contain the verification result, never your original document.

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies those guarantees or any other right the law does not allow us to limit.

Subject to that: the service is provided "as is"; we do not guarantee that any check is complete or error-free (detection accuracy is published with methods and misses, and no detector is proof); and to the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to, at our option, re-supplying the service in question or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for decisions you or anyone else makes in reliance on a result.

• We may suspend or terminate access, keys, or accounts that breach these terms or create risk for the service or others. Purchased credits on a key terminated for breach are forfeited to the extent the law allows.
• You can stop using the service at any time; unused purchased credits remain refundable under section 4.

We may change or discontinue features. We may update these terms; the "Last updated" date above will change, and material changes will be made clear on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. Changes do not take away credits you have already purchased.

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Australian courts.
