Bridging the gap between research and on farm implementation we aim to use this project to show growers the flexibility, versatility and potential profitability of winter wheats. Facilitating the implementation of seeder width, strip trials of Mowhawk sown next to and at the same time as growers spring wheat cultivar used in their respective programmes. Across 4 farms, with Mowhawk seed provided to fit into the farm programme at two times of sowing, April and May (8 demonstration sites total), to give farmers a practicable example of winter wheat production on their farm and more generally across the L/MRZ of the Esperance Port Zone. Using a combination of rapid social media content and in person extension activities to provide maximum reach and exposure to the trial and its findings. By the conclusion of this project early 2028, we aim to see growers and advisors making educated decisions on the incorporation of winter wheats into their rotations. Creating more diverse, resilient and profitable systems. Grains Research and Development Corporation · Australia (Commonwealth) | 17 Apr 2026 | 232,951 |
