### Overview

**About Inland Rail**

Inland Rail is an approximately 1,600km freight rail network that will connect Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. It will enhance our national freight and supply chain capabilities, connecting existing freight routes through rail, roads and ports, and supporting Australia's growth. By better linking businesses, manufacturers and producers to national and global markets, Inland Rail will generate opportunities for industries and regions during construction and beyond. Comprising 12 individual projects, Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and will enable safer, less congested highways, fewer carbon emissions, cheaper freight costs and new economic opportunities for our regions. Inland Rail Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of ARTC, is building Inland Rail on behalf of the Australian Government and all Australians, in partnership with communities.
