The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking tenders for the Provision of Specialist Medical Advice Services in Victoria. The service requires the supplier to provide specialist medical advice assessing the impact of medical conditions on a Victorian driver licence or permit holder or applicant's fitness to drive safely. Suitably qualified and experienced medical specialists must review medical histories and records and consult with treating practitioners as needed. The specialists will provide independent medical opinions and recommendations in accordance with national driver medical standards.

Stated requirements

• Engage suitably qualified and experienced medical specialists to examine the medical history and medical records (medical case) of a licence/permit holder or applicant
• Provide an independent medical opinion/recommendation on whether the driver licence/permit holder or applicant is safe to drive
• Assess fitness to drive in accordance with the national driver medical standards set out in the Austroads and National Transport Commission / NTC publication 'Assessing fitness to drive for commercial and private vehicle drivers'
• Engage in discussions with the person's treating practitioner where required as part of the case review

Eligibility

• Each briefing attendee is required to sign a Deed of Confidentiality to attend the briefing session
• Suitably qualified and experienced medical specialists must be engaged to deliver the services
