Tender Details : The Mount Barker District Council (“Council”) is seeking to engage a suitably qualified consultant to develop a detailed concept design (30% design) and cost estimates for Hawthorn Road upgrade project. The design seeks road upgrade that improves road safety, strengthens pedestrians/cyclist comfort & connectivity, and caters for increase in traffic from the adjoining developments. Hawthorn road has been a concern for the community for many years, with road safety issue, failing pavement, narrow lanes and very minimal pedestrian/ cyclist consideration throughout the length. The Adelaide/Hawthorn Road intersection is a DIT asset and is planned to be upgraded in the near future, with upgrades affecting surrounding local streets near Hawthorn Road. With the increase in development and upgrades scheduled, Hawthorn Road is likely to be a key collector or even sub-arterial road in the future, so it is critical for the road to be adequately upgraded.
